Default starting low carbs, am I doing it right?

Hello,

I am starting low carbing as grad school left me with quite a few pounds .... let's just say I don't need to go to the dead sea to float.

That being said, for the last two weeks I ate meats (grilled), eggs, broccolis, fish, cauliflower and zucchini. Everything is cooked either in butter or olive oil. Basically fried a few pieces of bacon, add the veggie listed above and break a few eggs on top. Following the advice from authority nutrition.

I am also quite more active (packing my apartment).

That being said, I didn't loose as much as I expected (ie, not sure the increase in physical activity is the only reason I lost a few pounds).

Am I doing something wrong or is the delay normal? Could I be eating too much meat?

In any case thanks for your help guys, the articles listed on this forum are helpful.

Not knowing the amount of carbs you are taking in, it's hard to say.

But let me understand. You have been eating low carb for two weeks, and you've lost 8 lbs, and you are concerned that you are not losing quickly enough?

I would have been ecstatic to have lost 8 lbs in my first two weeks!

Everyone loses at the rate at which they lose. And even if you lost weight quickly in the past, that's no guarantee that you'll repeat that pattern in the present. But get into, and stay in, fat burning mode by keeping carbs low and intake appropriate for your needs, and you will lose.

(By "appropriate for your needs" I mean what Dr. Atkins said" Eat when hungry, stop when full." For me, I modify it to "Stop when satiated." Because if I'm eating something I consider delicious, full might be painfully full.)

You won't, necessarily, lose as fast as you want to, and I don't know anybody whose weight loss is linear.
