FRESH pork rinds, in Victoria!
There I was, cruising through "chinatown" (as we locals know, that's the bottom block of Fisgard) and decided I needed some good LC food and I needed it now. I debated a few different options, and decided the traditional BBQ'd pork (only a teensy bit of sweetness on the outside, do-able), "just the meat" style, would fill the bill nicely.
So I'm in there, and I'm looking around while the nice lady applies cleaver to pork chunk, and there's BAGS of homefried pork skins/rinds! I had to have one to try it out...they're not salted but otherwise GLORIOUSLY puffy and light, and a bit chewy. And considering the number of pigs that place goes through (I had to turn my eyes away: a hatchet and a pig-in-process were not far away and in full view).
About 2.00 for a big bag that weighs 0.21 (kg? lb? not sure til I get the bag home to my kitchen scale).
Always a surprise around here...
