hypnotism
I have not gone to the local hypnotist in my area but I have heard encouraging reports from people who have used hypnosis for help dieting. It would be nice if the hypnotist just said, 'Eat less' or 'Lose weight' and you did that without thinking about how you were doing it. AND you lost weight.
What the local hypnotist does is ask you about your 'trigger foods' and then he suggests things that make the idea of those foods repugnant to you.
Now, what would make me fail with something like this is: I would simply find new 'trigger foods'!
So, the understanding you have with the hypnotist about your diet is crucial. I would like to focus my energies on keeping track of my foods (I use Fitday) and I find it almost impossible to do that! So a hypnotist could be helpful there.
Or if he made 'sugar' equate to something dreadfully harmful. It would make it even easier to avoid it.
Hypnotism by itself is a valid treatment for many things (phobias, for example) but it is not magic!
