Default Make it from Mon to Thurs, then sabotage until Sunday

I seem to be noticing a pattern.

Mondays I am always very motivated to eat low carb, drink my water, do some exercise, and try and be productive at my work.

This seems to last until Thursday. Many times, my husband and I go out to dinner on Thursdays. I can be good all day, and I try to do low carb at the restaurant, but frequently I cave in to the bread basket, the alcohol, and sometimes the dessert.

This triggers the carb cravings and I start nibbling carbs on Friday, which culminates into serious carb binges over the weekend. I get out of control on Saturdays and Sundays.

Then back to Mondays where I get good again.

This has happened to me the last two weeks, but I think it's been going on all year to tell the truth.

Half the time I'm "good", the other half I lose control.

I know we are going out this Thursday to a nice restaurant and I will want to endulge. But I am also going out of town for the weekend and would love to be down 5 pounds for the trip.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My boyfriend is a "foodie" who enjoys fine dining every Friday and Saturday. All I can tell you is that I HAD to learn to ignore the bread baskets and the dessert menus or I would have gained back a lot of the weight I was so proud of losing. The only way is to white knuckle it at first but, believe me, it gets easier with practice. And then you start seeing those items for the garbage they are, no matter how beautifully they are presented.

The bf is tall and slim and aware of what he eats too (although not necessarily low carb), so he'll just have one roll or one piece of crusty bread. I won't have any of course. Then we ask for the bread basket to be taken away.

An occasional dessert of fresh berries and cream is a possibility when they are on offer.

As for alcohol, we've taken to ordering it by the glass otherwise one bottle quickly turns into two. These days I ask for a glass of wine AND a club soda when we first sit down. It's usually well into the meal before both the wine and club soda are gone, so then I'll order another of each (again, both at the same time) and by the time they too are gone we're ready to leave..... with no harm done.

If you can practice staying low carb when you eat out on Thursdays, it sounds like the rest of your weekend will take care of itself. Good luck. Fingers crossed for you.

ETA: I go for club soda rather than plain water because the bubbles give it a more celebratory feeling and I don't feel deprived. I drink plain water all day every day so supplementing the wine with something non-alcoholic but bubbly works well for me.

Could you be accidentally undereating on your "good days" ? I do that. When I take out all the junk I forget to have enough of everything else, especially fat. Also if you are exercising on your "good" days, maybe you need more protein and fat.

So I would make sure I was not increasingly borderline hungry by Thursday and then fall off the cliff.
