Default good progress, finally

I started low carbing this summer, after falling badly off the wagon for a few years. I was eating pretzels, pasta, high quality bread, ciabatta rolls, all that naughty stuff and was way overweight for my height. Felt like a stuffed sausage, sluggish and bloated. I had done Atkins many years ago, so went back to my own version of a low carb diet I knew I could stick with. I still had morning coffee with half-n-half, but completely eliminated all grains except an occasional small serving of barely cooked steel cut oats with butter (tastes like brown rice!). No potatoes, no corn, no fruit of any kind and no processed or fast food but plenty of nuts, eggs, cheese, and of course meat. plus some low carb vegetables. Now that I'm close to a good weight, I've added some milk in my latte and also sometimes have home-made low carb cheesecake and no-sugar chocolate candy I make with Truvia.

After a month or so of depressing stalls in spite of being good, I started loosing again and finally got down to 130 for the first time in about 20 years! I'm only 5 feet tall and my highest weight was almost 160. I stayed at between 145 and 155 for years--too much for me.

Low carbing has become easy now and I honestly don't miss the bread and pasta I used to love and crave. It's so nice to not have constant food cravings like when I was addicted to pretzels! It is amazing how loosing just 25 pounds or so makes me feel so much better: it's a great incentive to keep up the low carbing!

Congratulations! I can so relate to your story. I hope I can stay motivated. It is hard since I am doing this totally without a support network, but early last year I had managed to get down 35 pounds and it felt GREAT! Currently, I have gained all but 13 pounds back, and that is just because I have lost a couple in the past 2 days. It does feel good when it comes together, doesnt it? Congratulations again and keep it up.
