Cool Hello everyone

I am thrilled to find this forum! OK, my question to you all...snack-wise what do you all recommend? i am a flight attendant and am away from home 3/4 days at a time and sometimes my schedule is not one that allows time during most of the day to grab something to eat. Airline food is carb overload!!! SO...what type of food/snacks should I be bring? I do not want to be tempted to binge on carbs. HELP....I fly out tomorrow! Thanks

How about some peeled boiled shrimp with a bit of tartar sauce to dip in? or a couple of ounces of cheese with pepperoni, or ham.

Chef Salad? (watch the tomatoes, olives and no croutons!)
Hamburger without the bun. (no french fries!)

Eating out....steak, grilled chicken, broiled fish, steamed veggies (no carrots or peas please)

(I travel a lot as well, so I know airport food and airlines)

For the long flights themselves, try packing along some or all of the following:

-cheese (maybe little individual ones)
-nuts, especially macadamias, almonds, and brazils
-beef jerky
-pepperoni
-pork rinds
-celery, radishes, sliced zucchini, raw califlour, etc.
-olives
-dill pickles
-if you can get them, LaTortilla Factory low carb tortillas, wrapped around meat, chicken, salad, cheese.....

Hope this helps!

Rachel

hi ginny and welcome what plan are you following? you've got the right idea! preparation is the key to lowcarbing or any weightloss program for that matter!
so you're a flight attendant! where do you fly? it must be such an interesting job. i don't fly and i never will. i'm just fascinated by people that do it for a living. i'd love to hear about some of the places that you've been.

Thumbs up

Hey Debbie,

Just getting ready to fly out to Chicago today..Sat I am in Denver and Sunday evening Toronto. I usually only fly approx. 12 days per month. Only Domestic at this point (that includes Canada and Mexico). I shall wait until my 3 children are older and I feel comfortable flying oversea's.
I am following the Atkins diet plan. I have just lost my first 5 lbs..so I am totally dedicated now. Must run, shall return on Monday. Thanks EVERYONE for the info!

I think I may have figured part of it out! OK, totally didn't think about ordering hamburgers minus the ketchup..I am sure that is part of my prob. In addition, I just assumed coffee was 0 carbs, hmmmmm. I need to go buy a carb counting book today!

One last thing, I've got some lovely virus (prob cought it on the plane) so, I must go purchase cough drops and cough medicine, arn't the drops filled w/ sugar? If it's not one thing it's another!

Stay away from those carb bars!!!!!!! They are not low carb but have hidden carbs in them due to the sweetners they use!
