Exclamation I blew it this time

Help...It's only 10:00 in the morning and I've gone and eaten a half a bagel. Is there any point to sticking to a low carb regime for the rest of the day?

Yes indeedy. It's only half a bagel. Maybe that'll put your carb count a little higher today than usual, but for sure if you let go and carb out through the day, you'll be too high. Everyone on this list will tell you, just keep on going and put the little slips behind. Thinking of a slip as the breach in the dam--nothing to do but let the whole thing go--is a only thought loop that sets up permission to carb out. You can choose to discard it and adopt another. Karen spends a lot of time figuring out what thoughts lie behind her breaks away from lowcarb eating. She's wise and experienced about this kind of thing. Half a bagel? So what. Get back on the horse, and keep on going.

Default I agree

Hey Missy. I totally agree with Liz. If we beat ourselves up every time we went astray, we would never stick to the program. If you give up your whole day to eating carbs you'll only set yourself that much farther back. Take care

You can scare yourself this way...

So, you eat half a bagel and think, Since I've blown it, maybe I'll have a chocolate bar. You have the chocolate bar, and then decide to have pasta for lunch with a Coke. By the afternoon, you feel like crap, so a few cookies wouldn't hurt, would they? Dinnertime rolls around and you have a Mexican carb fest along with a Margarita, finished off at home by a bag of potato chips, then a big bowl of ice cream. You wake up the next morning feeling like you've been hit by a truck and the carb cravings are out of control. You hate yourself. This time you eat a whole bagel with jam...

Do you really want this to happen?

It helps to draw the proverbial "line in the sand" and not cross it. No, no, no. Do not cross that line!

So, you've crossed that line? Just get right back to LC, immediately!

Karen

Oh, I know you are all SO RIGHT in what you've said. But I needed to hear it, I guess. And now, it's back to Induction.

Oh my, you stopped at 1/2 of the bagel. Me, I'd have eaten the whole thing if I had just 1 bite. Congrats for only eating half & double congrats for "confessing" here & asking for help & encouragement. Happy low carbing, Ruth
