Wink Got the Bernstein book for my Dad

I read Dr. Bernstein's book over the weekend, and all I can say is WOW. I shipped it off to my Dad in the hopes that he and my stepmom will read it. Dr. B's advice makes so much sense and I know from posters here that he works for so many people.

As someone with diabetes on both sides of my family, one of my motivations to eat low carb was to dodge the diabetes bullet. Dr. B's book makes me feel more confident about my course than ever.

I bought another copy for a family friend, and next month I'm sending a copy to the Pima Indians in Arizona...just a little charity thing.

I think everyone, diabetic or not, should read this book. It explains the science and will make you think more clearly about your health.

My fiancee got it for me a week ago and it was the best book, I photocopied pages to give to my friends who were diabetic, and they ended up getting the book too.

I agree, Pam! I think this is a must-read for any diabetic. Even if they don't follow the plan, there is a lot of very good information in there.
You'll have to let us know what your dad and SM think of it!

I bought a couple of extra copies of the book to hand out to friends who are diabetics, and have asked about how I manage to maintain tight control. There is a tradeoff of being pushy... and supportive. I hope to hit that right balance.

I am spending the summer researching diabetes. I usually plan some type of project in the summer ( read a particular book, attend a museum regularly etc ). I cannot believe that my mom has been living with diabetes all this time and remains so clueless about it.I once commented on the carbs that she was eating and she yelled at me stating "I am watching my sugar not my carbs!!!" duh.

Adkpam, I have not read Dr. B's book, yet, but I can imagine the epiphony. Like you I am planning on dodging the diabetic bullet.

Had a visit from my Dad, who's all worked up about this new information, adjusted his insulin, and likes to brag now about how much better his control is.

He mentioned that their recent dinner included low carb hot dog rolls!

This from a man who worried that Dr. Atkins wasn't right and I shouldn't low carb, when he was always nudging me to keep my weight down because of his diabetes.

It's not exactly a 180 yet, but I'd give him a 65 degree turn!
