Question does anyone know if salt/sodium intake affects us pcos low carbers?

just curious - never been told I needed to cut salt intake, (besides when eating lots of MEAT - it helps), but I have always been a huge water drinker & rarely ever interested in soda or "junk drinks" -

but since atkins, my water intake has increased more (usually 100 - 120 oz. /day minimum). Is this a problem (re: water poisoning) and/or water retention when weighing???

Also my hubby suggests that if I cut salt & i would "look thinner" because I wouldn't be swollen up with the extra water I drink... (from a man that has never drank water & lives on CANS of Dr. P daily)

just throwing this out there for comments???

Sodium can cause bloating in any person so if you're bloated and retaining water, then reducing your sodium intake will help. But that applies to everybody, not just PCOS women.

The only reason I can think of that cutting sodium would help PCOS women is that we tend to be highly prone to high blood pressure. If you're blood pressure is normal then it's probably okay, but it's something you might want to keep an eye on in case it skyrockets.

Thumbs up sodium/salt intake re: high blood pressure

thanks again sourdaisy for your input

actually my bp has always (so far thank G) been average to low - which is why I have never been asked by a dr. to watch my intake

I don't think I over-salt, but i definately use it when i want it

i think i will watch the amount and how much it causes fluctuations with "water" weight... at least experimentally to see how much difference I notice.
