Hi All!!!

Just started the original SP yesterday... So far so good.

I do have a question, as I picked up the SPII book tonight. Is it necessary to get a blood test to determine where I'm at????

I'll be writing more later, just wanted to say hi and get that question out there....

Ken

I just kind of figured it out from the descriptions she gave in the book. Check out pages 176-178 and 220-223.

Yeah, there are lists of illnesses or symptoms that tell if you're insulin resistant (diabetes, etc.), otherwise you are insulin sensitive. Then there is also a burned out adrenal list (allergies, etc.)

And, oh, WELCOME, Ken!!
Our numbers are growing but for the time being this board is slow compared to a couple of the others. Great thing is that you'll get great info from, seems like, only people who know what they are doing! There is a learning curve but we'll all help you through it! Healing Rocks!

Welcome Ken, Most people are able to figure out what category they are in based on the descriptions. I went ahead and got tested for insulin resistance because I was at the doctor's anyway. I was very pleasantly surprised to find out I am insulin sensitive.

This is a great place to get some questions answered.

Hey Ken from Arizona, welcome. How'd you get so lucky to end up in such a beautiful State.

Anyway, I have nothing to add that the others already didn't say. Just wanted to say hi.

You wouldn't be saying Arizona is beautiful if you lived here this time of year!!! Not too bad yesterday, barely broke 100. It has been in the 108 category for a couple of weeks and that is brutal. But hey, another couple of months and then beautiful weather from September until May.

Thanks for the welcome all. I will check my SPII book tonight to try and figure that stuff out. My only real symptom is that I am overweight, and carry it all around my midsection.

I have dropped about 12 lbs since January, as I was training for triathlon. Will resume training after I complete PT for a strained Rotator cuff. Also have to wait for my broken toe to heal!!!

Just wanted to give a little background. I'll be checking the board often for great ideas!!!

It's great to be a guy surrounded by women!!!!

I lived outside Palm Springs for a year and happily endured the summer. Everyone thought I was nuts. Me love heat, hate cold!

Does this mean we have to be on our best behavior?

That wouldn't be any fun, now -- would it???

Here's a silly question -- if you like heat and hate cold, why Toronto? (even though it's a beautiful city--I went to Buffalo State College-- native Long Island guy).

OK, how do you get your excerpts from other posts to appear in your emails (I tried to copy and paste, but don't know if that worked)???

I think I'm in trouble.....

As long as I don't have to be involved with talk about Candida, Yeast or HRT....

Just kidding, I do have a pretty extensive knowledge of Diabetes and all that goes with it, as my 9 year old son has Type 1 Diabetes. I had an extensive education session (5 days) in Phoenix Children's Hospital to learn about the disease and nutrition. What frustrates me is that adults get diagnosed and it's like -- here's your meds, good luck!!! Unbelievable. I'll get off my soap box now....

Hey, if it weren't for DH, I'd still be there. I had to stand by the "for better or worse".

Seriously, we're Canadian and DH thought practicing medicine in the US would be better than in Canada. He's also an avid golfer so it seemed natural we'd wind up there. Problem was he never got to golf b/c they worked him like a mule and he wasn't happy working in "the system", particularly HMOs. So we returned to Toronto after a year. I've been grumbling ever since.

Whataya think I was talkin' about? I could add a few others but we'll be gentle.
