Hi Sheri - thanks so much for checking in on me. My husband was raring to go so we started on Sunday...3 down, just 11 more days to go!

I am doing great. I got on the scale this morning (then told my husband to hide it so I won't get obsessed with it) and was down 2 lbs. So that felt wonderful.

I had been worrying that maybe I was not eating enough. I leave each meal feeling full but it just seems like so little food (compared to pre-Atkins).

I am bored to death (yes, already) with breakfast. But I was never one to eat eggs/bacon for breakfast anyway so I knew that would be a struggle. I need to try that mock danish tomorrow.

I think I messed up dinner tonight because I made some steak tips. The recipe required 2 1/2 tsp dijon mustard, 2 tsp soy sauce and 2/3 C white wine vinegar. Of course once we were ready to sit down and eat I realized none of these items is on the approved list.

Will have to be more faithful about reviewing the approved list.

Yes I do work during the day but from home. So I try to check in a couple of times a day. I find I have to be pretty disciplined about checking though because I could get started reading some of these email threads and completely lose track of time.

Write soon and let me know how you are doing.
Talk with you soon and keep up the good work!
Judy

WTG on those 2 lbs, Judy

Keep in mind that as adults we can eat whatever we want for breakfast. While I'm never going to be sick of bacon and eggs I do find that hot spicy chicken wings make a great first meal of the day from time to time. Anything you can eat for lunch or dinner on this WOL is good enough for breakfast.

Hey Judy,

I am not a specialist or anything but your supper sounded pretty good, I guess except for the soy sauce... Did you figure out what the carb count was??
Gee, all I ate was broiled or fried meat with Mrs. Dash or seasoning salt on it...YUCK so I spent I dont know how many hours on this computer looking up recipes and everynight my husband says "wow, this is kinda fancy" but I am soooo tired of the boring plain meat!! And I only cook easy stuff with normal ingredients.
Anyways, enough rambling, try the danish, I am absolutly hooked! I havent had scrambled eggs for a week and a half!! I am one of those people who need breakfast foods for breakfast! I could NEVER eat spicy chicken wings for breaky!! the only other things I could eat for breaky is cold pizza and anything chocolate but ...

Talk to ya!! Sheri

I love this site!

Nice job on the weight loss so far...keep up the good work

I keep saying I am going to try this mock danish but have not gotten to it yet. Guess I am not as tired of scrambled eggs as I claim to be...

Sheri - I was sort of able to figure out the carbs but only for the entire amount. I then just divided by 5 servings since that seems to be what we ended up with. I came up with about 18 carbs for the entire dish.

I am certainly willing to share the recipe with you...just to warn you though it seems to be a love it or leave it dish. I have served it to family and friends with mixed reviews.

I am with you on the non breakfast for breakfast foods. One of the things Atkins has taught me very quickly is that I am a much pickier eater than I would have said prior to starting induction.

Things like only wanting breakfast food for breakfast or not eating luncheon meats at all. I am not a big meat eater in general but am finding ways to doctor it up in order to get it down. Don't like fish or the texture of tofu.

Maybe that is why I am a carb addict! You eat what you like!

But inspite of all that moaning I am eating and feeling full so it can't be that bad!

Talk with you soon.
Regards, Judy

Cool Hello Jen and Ben

Hi Jen and Ben,

My name is Steve and I live in Oklahoma. I started out on a low carb diet around 3-4 weeks ago. I started out right at 300lbs. I'm now down to 284 and slowly making progress. I basically cut out breads, pasta, rice, fried foods, sweets, and I really don't miss it that much. In the morning I eat one Carb Solutions bar, chocolate almond fudge is the best, and drink 2 glasses of water. The Carb Solutions bar has 2grams of carbo and 25 grams of protein. It also works if I get a late night craving for something sweet and is a healthier alternative to candy bars or ice cream. I also am taking cider vinegar tablets, 2 before each meal consumed. For lunch I usually have a bowl of steamed vegetables, usually brocolli and cauliflour. Dinnertime consists of a sensible meal without all the high carbs like chili, stirfry without the rice, Lean grilled hamburgers with seasoning and no bun, etc. If you have any other low carb foods or recipes, I'd love to exchange them with you. This whole thing has me cooking again, which my wife loves. . I look forward to hearing from you and keep up the good work.

Steve

Hi Steve - just a real quick note to let you know I received your message. I had been traveling for business the last couple of days and just did not have access to my personal email.

I would love to exchange recipes so let me pull some together. Mine are mainly reworking existing to pull out the carbs.

I will get back to you early next week - the family is off to the mountains for a long weekend get away.

Have a great weekend. Keep up the good work on the weight loss. Thanks for the suggestion on the carb bar. May just try it once I complete Atkins induction.

Keep in touch, Judy
