Default Pork Rinds

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if the American Pork rinds are our Pork Scratchings and if so can I have them. I found some in the supermarket but they have rusk and yeast in and there is not carb content listed on the packet. They are in a gold foil packet and are quite a common pack as I have seen them in the pubs before.

Does anyone know anything about these things? I'm a bit worried about having them because of there being so little information on the Back.

Thanks,

Bez

Default Scratchings

Hi Bez

I too asked about pork scratchings on the forum. Look at the UK thread titled 'Snacks Advice' for the answers (I think I posted from page 2)

speak soon

Thanks Ken,

I've just done my weekly shop and bought unsalted butter and checked everything for carbs and I am shocked to discover that our whipping/double cream has sugar in it - I checked all of them, even the organic and that has more in it than the one I've been buying, sour cream is the same.

If I'm not allowed this any more, what am I allowed and does anyone now where I can buy some without sugar.

It said we were allowed whipping cream and I've been using this in coffee because I thought it would add to my fat content. I only checked it today because I bought a light one on Saturday by accident and noticed it had sugars in it.

What do I do now as this may be the reason I am not losing?!

Bez,

Yes, some cream has trace amounts of sugar added. Some people are not affected with small trace amount. But to find cream with no sugar added, you may want to try a farmers market, or any local farm dairy retailers, they usually don't add any sugar.

Thanks Wa'il

I'm going to leave cream off the menu and I'm looking for a local dairy/farm shop that sells foods without sugars if possible.

Thanks again, I'ts obviously something I'm eating and I need to find out what it is.

Default Double Cream

Bez

Double Cream is 2.6g carb/100ml - all except for Elmlea which is 4g/100ml. 1 or two tablespoons a day would do no harm so long as you are aware that there is a carb intake.

I allow myself a 340ml cup every other week. It is impossible to avoid carbs completely - just be aware of where they are, hidden or otherwise.

Take care.
