I gotta find another way to take silica. The DE makes me super thirsty. I can't quench my thirst after I take it.

DE reminds me of Texas when we maintained a pool. Not sure I would want to eat it either!

You might want to look into Bio-Sil, though it is not cheap and who knows how much it helps bones long-term?

Ingredients: Silicon (5 mg), Choline (100 mg)

Without a base-line DEXA and regular update reports, how would you know its impact? As I wrote earlier, regular X-ray is not useful. However, I started Bio-Sil only about 6 weeks ago and my nails are the strongest, longest and smoothest ever..in my life. Also added gelatin.
There are reviews on Amazon where people write they had DEXA scale improvements..whatever that is worth.

The pool sort of DE is poisonous. Eek!

Thanks, Janet. I'll look at it and try to see why it warrants a higher price tag than other silica supplements. Sometimes it is all marketing.

Question Any Updates on Osteopenia

My Dexa scan showed bone loss and Dx'ed osteopenia.
My calcium is at 9.3mg/Dl and D-25 at 20ng/ml. So at least the calcium / D25 don't indicate hyperparathyroid. <img alt="" title="Smilie" class="inlineimg" border="0">

I'm guessing the cause of the bone loss is my D3 is low and not enough load bearing exercise for the last 30+ years. Or maybe 10 years of T2D took its toll.

Anywho it looks like my new regimen will in include:
No grains, ~2000IU Vit D, strength & weight bearing exercise, K, magnesium, calcium, C, good fats, possibly DE (Diatomaceous Earth).

I was wondering if anyone has news or updates about their progress. Or might have suggestions / useful links.

Thanks

Sorry to hear it, Nancy!
I would highly, highly encourage you to invest in some work with a personal trainer.
Exercise is now known to be MORE beneficial than diet in building/ maintaining bone density.
There is no reason a qualified trainer can't work around any joint injury/pain.
I have had 5 clients with osteopenia or osteoporosis. All had arrested bone loss in spine and hips by one year follow up scan, and 3 had improved their results.
Best of luck!
