Question LC at University

I read the latest post about LCing at college and how manageable it is. I am pretty concerned about my own situation, however. I am going to be in a fall production at the beginning of next year at my high school and at the end of the school year, the director told me he wanted me to slim up this summer. I have lost around 10 pounds, but as of now, the results aren't all that significant nor noticeable. I ate a couple of non-LC meals while on a trip to NY, which hurt me a bit. Anyway, I am going to be leaving Sunday for a summer program at a university and I will be there for an entire month and will only have 2 remaining weeks before school starts after my return. I consider myself to be in the induction phase and I am trying to lose weight as quickly as I can. Given the circumstances, however, I don't know what I'll be able to do. Will it hurt me to eat salads at lunch while I'm there? I don't want to feel awkward by asking for stuff without the bread. I just don't want to have to deal with explaining it to people and all of that. If eating salads would stall my progress, I would not do it, but I don't want to feel too weird either. Any advice

charlie17,

Salads are perfect for lunch, as long as they have protein on or with them. A burger, some turkey and cheese, or whatever you can get will be fine.

And about asking for things without the bread; you just get used to it. Many times there will be no comment, but sometimes you get a response like the one I got one of the first times I ordered a cheeseburger without the bun: the waitress looked at me blankly and asked "What do you mean?" Rarely the person will ask if you're on Atkins, but it does happen.

I know that not "feeling wierd" is a major aim when you're in high school, so another alternative is to just order things the way they are, then remove the bread or croutons or whatever after the food arrives.

Sounds like you're going to have a fun summer!

Karla
