Default using suet in cooking

Just ordered 1 lb. of suet from local farmer (very inexpensive), haven't received it yet. Any suggestions for how to use it? I'm thinking of adding to burgers, other meats for additional fat. Maybe add to greens or mushrooms too. Do you have experience using it, better to add before cooking or after (such as to make a richer sauce)?

Well I got the suet (frozen), a large amount for 1 lb.! I read that it's OK to just shred pieces while it's still frozen, no need to render first. I'll try it soon, will add to roasting meats or veggies. Don't see many recipes using it, seems that it was traditionally used as an ingredient in baking (especially in British cooking) and also used instead of clarified butter for potting meats.
