Default U.S.-Cuba low-carb diplomacy

My fellow Americans,

President Obama recently announced an initiative to improve relations with Cuba. Although it is well short of full diplomatic relations, this initiative provides an incentive for the U.S. low-carb culture to reach its own improved relationship with the Cuban cuisine community. This means:

We need to come up with a great-tasting SUGAR-FREE Mojito!!!

Basically, it comes down to a sweetener choice. Practically, Splenda vs. Stevia (see sticky). Unfortunately, I can't experiment myself as I am in an alcohol-free phase. But down the road I may imbibe if safe to do so. Has anybody else here tried a sugar-free Mojito? I've had good results with a brand of stevia called Sweetleaf, and it seems like a better bet than Splenda. But I'm open to other options.

Until we can have a sugar-free Cuba, we can at least have a sugar-free Cuban drink!

Thank you, and God Bless Low Carb!!

I don;t use sweetener very often at all, but as per Dr A '72, I imported some Sugar Twin from Canada (both liquid and granules)... I vote liquid.

I think Stevia can taste all right with citrus drinks. Mojita is citrus-y isn't it?

Cuba's primary agricultural export was/is? Sugar. Good idea for us LCers to plow under the sugar cane fields and plant stevia, but not so good for Cuba's economy.
Baja Bob's got you covered in the meantime: http://www.bajabob.com/bbmojito32.html

Cascade Ice makes one too and it has splenda instead of aspartame.

My Local GNC carries BajaBob's original Margarita and Daiquiri in bottles....they must somehow fall under the definition of a healthy nutritional supplement!
Not all GNC's, but locations that know their Paleo clientele. Muscle building whey protein and fermented cod liver oil, finished off with a chaser of SF margaritas.
