Why don't you break the habit by getting out of the house and doing something different with your time. Also, find some absorbing hobbies to do in the house. If you don't work, give yourself a challenge to find something to do every day - voluntary work, or something. There will be plenty of voluntary organisations near you - you could visit people in hospital, befriend someone who's housebound, help with a youth club, etc. If there isn't a scheme, then give yourself a project, for example, clear rubbish from a local beauty spot - you could even look for some more people to join you. You could also look around to see if there are any classes, clubs or groups which appeal to you in your locale. If nothing appeals to you, then join one anyway - maybe it'll grow on you.
It's possible that you're depressed and eating because of that, and giving yourself goals will help to break the cycle. Check out self-help books which teach cognitive behaviour therapy techniques for coping with depression, or ask to see someone who can help teach them. Also, consider taking St. John's Wort, which is a herb with a mild anti-depressive action.
With the diet, if you cannot go cold turkey, then try easing yourself onto the diet starting tomorrow: aim to start the day with a low-carb meal, even if you don't go low-carb for the rest of the day. After you get into the habit of a low-carb breakfast, add a low-carb lunch. Later, you can add the low-carb dinner. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. One step at a time can still take you in the right direction.
Good luck.
