Default serotonin boosting with tryptophan...

Hi all,
I just went through a major home move. We are finally out of the old home,
and into the new one. I was really suffering with fatigue, sleepiness, stress
in general during the midst of it. But one of my sons who left for college had
some supps that he left. I found a bottle of tryptophan, remembered about
Schwarzbein and low serotonin. One of the other symptoms I was having was
extreme achiness. So anyway for the last 2 nights, I took one cap of the tryptophan before bed. Today I am much less achy and less fatigued. It could be coincidence from just relaxing a bit more, but I think the supp is
helping. Anyone else ever take it for stress? Would love to hear if anyone
else has used it successfully. I know about the foods that help increase
serotonin from her 1st book, and am focusing on them when I can.

I don't take tryptophan but 5-htp (tryptophan converts to 5-htp (5-hydroxy-tryptophan) then it converts to serotonin and then at night to melatonin as I've read).

I take the 5-htp for better sleep, it helps me relax and it seems to work. I
still wake up 2 times per night (all that water I'm drinking ...) but my sleep is much deeper and more refreshing.

I have taken 5-htp, too. It helps me sleep better and for an added bonus cravings go away. Particularly carbs.

Where can you get Tryptophan now? How much 5-htp do you guys take. I have taken 50 mg and I don't notice anything.

Default 5-htp

I take 50mg. With the research I've done on line about it you want to be careful. It can have negative as well as positive affects, like nightmares. It can also take a while to build up in you system from my experience. I do find that 15 mg. of Melatonin is better for just getting to sleep but it doen't seem to have all the extra benefit that the 5-htp has.
