The big difference seems to be that compared to Atkins, the fat to protein ratio is more strictly controlled--just following by the book Atkins, a person might end up with the proper percent fat, but if they happen to really like tuna and skinless chicken breast, they might end up too low fat. So other than that precision, the diet really is pretty close to other low carb diets, you should be able to find lots of applicable ideas here, once you get started. Also, my understanding is that the ratio has to be right for every meal, not just averaged out for the day. (edited to add--I've been reading about a few of these diets for seizures lately, I had that bit about balancing every meal confused from another similar diet.)
It probably is a good idea to get some professional help getting started, there might be ins and outs of getting started for people with epilepsy that lay people on this board wouldn't be aware of.
Hope the diet helps you.
My guess is that if you're interested in the MAD, you've probably read this next, but here it is anyways just in case;
