Talking Hi!

I started following a lo carb lifestyle after getting back some blood work that showed my A1c as 10!! I grew up in a family of diabetics, was married to one that was a worst case scenario of noncompliant diabetic.. and was diagnosed myself about 3 years ago as type 2. I should have known better.

After starting this in the beginning of October I have dropped 43lbs, and my sugars now read in the normal levels. I get new blood work done in December and am hoping to reduce or get off of metformin as it makes me ill.

I'm looking for other places to chat and find info other than Facebook and look forward to exploring the site

Welcome Kel

Seems that you are doing great so far...is that Dr Hyman's diet you are following? If it is working for you..keep on keepin' on.

If you want to check some other LC diets for diabetics, a good place to start is the Diabetes sub-forum, read back through a few pages of threads. http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=45
Dr Hallberg's TEDtalk is a great intro. http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=467426
And any of the Reversing Diabetes info on DietDoctor. https://www.dietdoctor.com/diabetes

All the best,

Welcome and CONGRATULATIONS!

So many T2 diabetics out there either just haven't heard the good word about how getting off the carbs can, quite literally, SAVE their lives. Or else, they've heard but just stick their heads in the sand...or think "low carb" means, don't have more than 1 piece of cake for dessert.

I want to jump for joy every single time I hear about another person like you. Thank you for joining us and for sharing your great news!
