Default Just Bought an Elliptical - HELP!!

Hi there! I just bought a nordictrack a.c.t. elliptical and it will be here in about a week. Thing is, in the past (a couple/few years ago) when I've tried ellipticals, they seemed so awkward for me and not smooth at all. Truth be told, never really gave them much of a chance, and just went to the treadmill. I'm now giving it a try since it's better on the joints etc, and the treadmill always gave me shin splints. Anyone have any suggestions or comments? Anyone start out really awkard and finally get the hang of it? I sure hope so! Thanks

Don't jack up the incline and resistance right away. Most ellipticals can go completely flat so it feels like regular walking minus the impact. Get used to that and then slowly increase the incline.

Thanks for the info. - will let you know how it goes, lol! For once I would like to find a piece of exercise equipment that I (at least kinda) enjoy, and not use it as a clothes rack!

you will adjust as you use it. i felt the same way at first. i love the elliptical at the gym. it's a great way to workout on the days i take off from running. it's easy on the joints and i can feel it burning up my booty.

Well, had to cancel the Nordictrack! Eight days after I order it I call to see when it will ship and they tell me it's on backorder... ugh.. Oh well - Plan B. Ordered one from Amazon and it's already on its way!
