Default Hello I am a new member

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and would like to introduce myself. I have been struggling with weight all my life. And needless to say have tried tons of difference diets. The low carb diet works best for me. I like Atkins. But I am having a hard time staying on it as I am not eating things like bread ' low carb, of course. I also swim 2 to 3 times a week and I am hungrier . I would like to know how many carbs I should be eating. I seem to restart the induction phase of Atkins as I cheat after 3 days. Just to let you know that I have never participated in a forum of any kind. I need help and this is it. So any suggestions on how I can stay on Atkins ?

Which Atkins book or plan are you using? The only "secret" to staying on Atkins is...stay on it. It takes anywhere from three days to three weeks to feel the increase in energy and well-being that cutting out the carbs provides. Meanwhile, you just have to make up your mind to do it. Some tips:

--Keep busy. If you are hungry, eat something.
--Drink a couple mugs of hot broth every day. Chicken or beef bouillon is fine.
--Don't skimp on fats. Eat bacon if you like it. Make salads or eggs with allowed dressings and mayo.

Not everyone has an "all or nothing" personality. However, for me, this one decision rules my life: No sugar. No starch.

So...keep it simple.

Best wishes.

Welcome,
You have found a great forum for information and support. Start at the Newbie Questions forum >>>> http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=110
Read the stickies at top for basic tips to start and stay on the diet.
This post has good links to Dr. Eades advice for the "second time around' or repeat starters. http://forum.lowcarber.org/showpost...6&postcount=163

A most basic tip is to Just Eat Real Food. No LC breads, bars, shakes, and if you can, no artificial sweeteners that stoke your sugar cravings.

Look around the other forums too. The Atkins Diet and General LC will be helpful for you.
All the best

I agree with this 1,000%!! This is by far the best advice I was given and it has been the most successful guideline in helping me be successful.

Welcome, I'm new as well. I've been doing this since Jan 1st, and I'm happy with the progress... I read the blogs, the book "The New Atkins for a New You" and have found useful advice here and lots of great recipe ideas. I stick with real food, I skip alcohol and artificial sweeteners, I do drink one Premier shake for snack and its hasn't been a problem.
Good luck!
