For 10 plus years I have done nothing but sit on my butt.
I recently bought an elliptical and have gone from working out maybe once a week to daily. I just missed a couple days and did my first workout yesterday after skipping 2 days and MAN that was hard!! Today I am typing this because I'm stalling. I need to get back on that machine.
I have to remember how great it feels to do that daily. I work out for an hour and sweat like crazy. It's a good thing. And I get to clear my mind.
So I guess my question is is why is it so hard to do things that feel good?

Because the pain doesn't equal the gain? Because you're overcoming 10+ years of the habit of inertia? Because you haven't lost enough weight to feel energetic on a consistent basis, which would make you want to exercise? Because you have low thyroid?
Wait, was this a rhetorical question? Dang, those always trip me up.
You're funny! Rhetorical in some ways but I really am interested in other people's views. Yes - 10 plus years is certainly a tough one. Low thyroid is also not on my side. But I take medicine for that so I doubt that has too much to do with it. I have been dedicated to doing my hour every day until it becomes second nature. That will take a long time I'm sure but hey...I have time! Today was really hard but I did it. Always feels good afterward.
