Default Tummy question

This may be delicate for some and I admit to being embarrassed asking, but is it normal to have diarrhea during induction? I am in day 2 and although it's not been a huge inconvience, it's a little unnerving?

Thanks

Yes ... I had that. I think it is due to the increased fat.

It goes away after your body adapts.

What is a surprise for many is that after the diarrhea stops, you may become constipated due to the lowered amount of fiber you're ingesting. So...

It's best to start some fiber supplementation at the beginning of Induction, even though you may not think you need it right now. The increased bulk may help to slow the diarrhea for now and prevent a rebound constipation next week! There are lots of sources out there...fiber tablets, fiber wafers, stuff you mix into drinks...just make sure that whatever you buy is sugar-free. Many of the fiber drinks contain sugar to make them more tasty.

Hi Kris!

This link may help explain a bit what's going on and also give you some tips for handling the situation: http://www.lowcarb.ca/tips/tips012.html

Once your body adjusts to your change in diet, things should right themselves in short order.

Kris,

Great question, I'm glad you had the guts (no pun intended) to ask it, because I've had the same thing today. I've looked at it as a good thing, because obviously somethings going on in there. I've been on strict induction for 3 full days and my stomach was gurgling a bit yesterday, then today it all unloaded.

I was pretty sure it was normal, but it never hurts to confirm and from what I've read in these threads, there is not a question that is too embarassing or that someone has not experienced.

Sounds like your doing great on induction, heres to a skinny new year.

Never be embarassed to ask! Can almost guarantee there is SOMEONE here who has been there! I had the same issue when I first started but it righted itself out after about 4 or 5 days - I summed it up to my body adjusting to the dietary change!

Restarted induction today after a less than successful Christmas with the parents. No need to say more than that. Was hit with it tonight.

Take some loperamide (Imodium). There's no need to suffer!!! You'll be fixed in no time!
