Fats do not go from your digestive tract to your hips, waist or wherever your problem is. They get digested and broken down in your gut like all the other foods you eat.

Sugar doesn't make you sweet.

Blueberries don't make you blue.

Veggies won't make turn you into a plant.

The LC diet is a modification of a ketogenic diet. The K diet is a high fat, moderate protein, very low carb diet. It was given to epileptic children and it reduced both the frequency and intensity of their seizures.

There was one side effect. The high fat diets made them lose weight.

The way I understand it is that high glycemic foods make you fat. High G foods are those that are either sugar or turn into sugar quickly in your body (most starches). This causes an insulin burst which in turn tells your body there is an excess of sugar and it starts to store that sugar in your body's fat cells so you can have some reserves when the starvation season comes. But we don't have a starvation season anymore because we have food storage and importation down.

Fats have a very low glycemic - next to nothing. Therefore they do not trigger an insulin reaction.

So fats don't make you fat, starches and sugars do.

Learn about how your body processes the food and you will understand why fats don't make you fat.

Other than sugar/insulin there is one more thing that will make you fat. Eating more calories than you burn. Fat does have a lot of calories, so if you sit down to eat a few pounds of bacon, and you don't exercise, you can expect to gain some weight.

The grain industry started telling people that fat makes you fat, and complex carbs do not. So the people in the US started eating a low-fat, high complex carb diet. What happened? America got more and more obese, and heart attacks climbed through the roof.

The grain companies like this because they are making huge profits, the doctors don't mind because they are making money with drugs and operations, and so the ads (both overt and covert) keep on coming.

But the proof is in the pudding. Fat makes you skinny.

Of course, there are special circumstances in a small percentage of people where fat may be a problem. Always use caution when changing a diet and check with your health care provider if you have any problems.

Bob

I am so glad you typed this out for me, reading it really made me feel better! Thank you Bob!

My next suggestion is to nuke the margarine and get real butter. Margarine had trans-fat in it which is not good for you. It's a mad-made fat and doesn't act like a real fat in your body.

If you drink coffee or tea with "creamer" in it, you might try heavy whipping cream. It makes the coffee and tea taste better (IMHO) and adds a little good fat into your body.

As I said before, I think you should be more afraid of starches and sugars than fat.

Look at the French - they eat a lot of fat, are generally slimmer than people in the USA and have healthier hearts. And the Eskimos who ate the most fat (until they went on a "western" diet) and had slim bodies and almost no cancer or heart disease.

I've been on a very low carb, high fat diet for about 13 years now. I lost 50 pounds and am keeping it off, and all my blood test numbers are in the normal range.

Of course, if you have some rare medical condition that makes fat bad for you, that's a different story.

Bob

Read as much as you can about LC. The more you read the less scared you'll be.
Fat is real food. It nourishes the body.

Default Today I ACTUALLY Ate!!!

Today for the first day in a long time I felt satisfied on my Low Carb Eating Journey. I have re-started Induction and in turn welcomed more fat and carbs! Today I felt FULL at the end of my dinner! I have 4 hard boiled eggs with mayo whipped together I used the yolks and the mayo together and put it on the eggs while I sliced in halves and for my first meal and for dinner I have tuna with FULL Fat mayonnaise on top of romaine heart leaves, a big burger I made from ground beef, 2 pieces of bacon on it AND butter on and a chicken thigh with butter on it! I also drank about 6 cups of water today which is a vast improvement from my previous 1-3. I also bought a book about Atkins and have made up a whole bunch of hard boiled eggs and pieces of bacon to stash in my fridge for if I get hungry or as a snack.

It is crazy how good it feels to let go of calorie counting. I was calorie counting before as well as not eating enough fat and the process was making me miserable. I felt sick and tired and drained. I was not able to get in Ketosis and was seriously questioning where all this energy you are suppost to get from LC eating and Atkins was coming from.

I am so thankful to all of you to have helped me through this and helped me stop calorie counting and fat counting and to start being more open minded and dive whole-heartingly into Atkins and LC eating. I have not counted how many calories I ate today but know my carbs were right around 5.5 today which I am telling myself is "Good Enough". It is getting late and for the first time I am not tempted by the carbs my family have eaten for dinner and am looking forward to continuing on my Induction and achieving my goal weight.

Thank you all so much! (hugs)
