Greeting Ladies

I was told I had PCOS in 2003. I went to a lc lifestyle and successfully went from 220 to 157. I have a monthly cycle without birth control pills. I sleep wonderfully after having insomia for all of my adult life. Happy. Well, I'm in crisis. I have been slowly gaining the weight back. Now I'm 180. When I was down to 157 I was eating 40 carbs per day and still losing weight. I was satisfied so I began to add more fruits and whole grains. I have to admit, I haven't exercised in over a year.

My weakness is popcorn (air popped with butter) and any kind of nuts. I steer clear of sugar and white flour. I occasionally have chips. I don't do rice, potatoes, or processed foods. What am I doing wrong?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think your metabolism has got mixed up and probably slowed right down. I would suggest kicking your metabolism back into burning fat again by going back to a 2 week induction, either on atkins (but it is quite restrictive) or maybe better for you, if you want to eat a more variety of stuff, South Beach. I have done both, South Beach is easier to follow for two weeks.
I think you would find if you STUCK to a 2 weeks induction, and then carried on with phase 2, you'd kick your metabolism, lose weight in the first two weeks and then carry on losing.

I am giving you this advice because that's exactly what I just did; I was on atkins for a year, stalled out completely for the last 4 or 5 months and then went onto South Beach. I have been on SB induction for 3 weeks and lost 9lbs.

Good luck, if you wanna know more about SB, follow the link in my siggy to the south beach babes!

I was just diagnosed last month. I would love and info and support in regards to weight loss. I have done a specific diet. I have just been eating what is considered good for me according to the Glycemic Index. I would love to hear about new diets and success stories

I would suggest going on the Atkins induction for the recommended 2 weeks- just to kick your body back to the fat-burning mode again; it seems to be off, if you've gained back some weight.

Also, you might want to consider exercising again, even if it's just some walking every other day. It'll help.

But congrats on your weight loss!

Default Holy weight loss, Batman!

WOWSA!!!!!!!!! Congrats on the loss!!! I would like to lose 70-100 myself.

Maybe it is time to consider hardcore LC, but I have to admit - the idea of ketosis (or the effects) keeps me away. I stay away from sugar 6.5 days out of the week (must have a frap or chiller as a treat), and really watch the GI. Still, not budging to save my life.

What to do...what to do....
