Hi katoman,
How is Atkins working for you. So far I've been quite pleased with it. Have lots of energy and have dropped about 15lbs.

Hi guys!
I grew up in Louisiana and lived there until about 4 years ago when my husband got in the military and we moved to WA state. I have been on Atkins for 2weeks and have lost about 7 pounds.

Happy LC ' ing everybody!

Hi prmichel,
So far, I've only lost the 13 lbs that came off the first week & 1/2. The scales haven't budged since August 1st. I'm in ketosis so I will give it a month like DANDR says to do before I begin looking at fat fast or other alternatives. TY for asking!

franny43, if you're still out there, can we meet? Our stats almost match to a T. Maybe we can go for walks together.

In a way this is the place for low carbing...
so much seafood!
I love boiled shrimp!! Just leave off the dipping, actually make my own with mayo and fresh garlic.
I'm thinking gumbo without the rice might not be too bad either.
I had grilled tilapia the other night at a restaurant...wonderful!!

Sounds delicious! I will have to wait a little longer before enjoying them as I'm going to try staying on a prolonged induction phase. I am still miserably huge! I gained 60 lbs since I quit smoking last summer and it's proving difficult to get the fat to say goodbye! I'm eating an average of 1800 calories a day, about 80% fat.

Kato,
My gf and I both put on a lot of weight when we quit smoking. In fact, thats why we started low carbing! I have lost about 15 lbs and she about 10.

hey prmichel,
Just thought I would say that if you eat gumbo, Beware! The roux that the gumbo is made from is basically white flour and oil, wich I am sure puts carbs in the form of starch in gumbo. Sorry, just thought I would warn you to be careful about that, unless you eat the gumbo without the roux?

Thanks ladybug. You are right, roux is flour and oil or butter. I dont indulge in it very often.

yeah, I am still on induction so I guess sometimes I get a little paranoid about my carbs, but gumbo is so delicious. I sure do miss that good home food. My grandmother taught me how to cook gumbo and etouffee and creole and the likes but it is never as good as hers. Ladybug
