Default My CAD book says I CAN drink Diet Pop (or Soda, for Americans), but...

I see a lot of people saying that you shouldn't. I know I would do much better on this WOE if I could have the occasional Diet Cream Soda No Aspertame, just Slenda...what do you think? Hey, if I can't have my regular 5 coffee's a day, I need a tiny treat

The Heller's changed that rule in their CALP book as they found a lot of their clients's weight loss stalled while drinking diet sode.

In northern Illinois, we called it pop, but here in St. Louis we call it soda.

You're gonna find lots of different opinions on diet soda on this board. You're gonna have to figure this out yourself. Good luck!

I drink more water than diet soda. I actually prefer my diet soda mixed with rum & a lime twist, but that's another story.

And my 15 year old son who runs high school cross country and track gave up soda all together - even though he easily works off any calories that he would consume by drinking regular soda.

Hi Bella-
I think you can have that soda if you want it. It may or may not affect your weight loss- it is a YMMV thing. Insulin may be released from the sweet taste, not the actual sugar. I drink from none a week to 5 a week (on vacation so I can have something that is a treat). It is a YMMV issue

I've done it both ways with no difference. Just pay attention to how it affects you and be sure to drink plenty of water!

I have diet soda every day and have had it since I started CAD 10 years ago. The first CAD book says you can have it but CALP doesn't say NOT to have it. It says it is an option to try not to have it or if it affects your weight or hunger to avoid it. I can't avoid it. I love it and don't gain or have cravings.

I drank Diet Mountain Dew the whole time I lost on CAD.
I started out at 220-ish and am now about 128. I only lost
about a half a pound per week on CAD, and it's possible that
I would have lost faster if I HADN'T had the diet pop.
BUT I NEVER COULD HAVE STUCK WITH THE PLAN WITHOUT
DIET MOUNTAIN DEW!!!
Never in a million years could have stayed with it.
It's the best plan ever.
Sheila

Hi Sheila-
you area so right- this is the best! I know this is it for me- I guess we are both in it for the long haul. It is interesting that neither of us have journals! I just post here- and I am sooo glad to see you again. The last time was a year or so ago- I guess I can check!
So glad to see you doing so great, too!

Has it been a year since I posted?? It's possible. Check your PMs....
Yep, I'm in it for the long haul, it isn't a hardship though at all. I remember when I thought if I could ONLY get to size 14/16 I'd have the freakin' world by the tail. Then I could shop at "regular" stores. Now all my jeans are size 6.

I'll try to post more than just yearly....
Sheila

So great to read both of your little chat! I'm really enjoying my first week on this plan and can see where this could be the answer for me too - especially with inspiration like each of yours. I also know of another online friend who just lost her 100th pound on CAD this week too. True inspiration!

Eno - I can't remember if I asked or read how long it took you to drop your weight? I've done so much reading this last week or so that I've gotten people's stories all confused so please forgive me...

I'm praying that this works for me to drop my weight because the way I feel seems great so far and I certainly feel like I get to have what I want. We'll see around hormone times when they kick in how that goes.

Have a good night all. I hope to see more of you Sheila!

Thanks,
-Tink

Sheila, please post what you ate or eat on CAD? I am a big eater and feel like I am the only one. Alot of the CADers eat so little for rm that I am wondering how they can keep their weight from going down when at goal. I couldn't eat 1/2 roll for my 1/3 portion of my rm. In fact I don't really balance and never have. Care to share?

Sheila,
did you lose all your weight on CAD?? I'd love a sample of what you normally ate too!
