Welcome cinderpear
I see many THM recipes on Pinterest. From what I gather, it is a real food based semi-LC plan. Your husband may wish to adjust his foods to be lower carb to help his blood sugar. Good sub-forum here: http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=45
Dr Hallberg simplifies it in her fantastic TEDtalk as No GPS, no grains, potatoes and sugar. http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=467426
I am a cancer survivor and started this way of eating six years ago for the possibility that a "no sugar, no starch" diet could prevent a recurrence, and the evidence continues to mount that a low insulin and low blood sugar environment is helping. Check the research forum as well for news. http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=4

All the best to you and your husband,
