Default Daikon hash browns....help

I will be giving myself away as a horrible cook but I have to ask anyway.....
To make hash browns with potatoes, don't you use already baked potatoes? So, do I need to do something with the daikon before slicing and frying with onion...?

Thanks if anyone can spell out for me, taking nothing for granted, exactly how to make daikon hash browns.

hi there,

The recipe is posted here ... HomeFries / Hash Browns ...The original calls for using ordinary red radishes, but daikon works beautifully. There's some good ideas for variations in that thread (it's long!) ..

hth,

Doreen

Default daikon home fries

This is a really good recipe - I made it for dinner tonite. My dad loved it - he marvelled that he's 84 and up to now nobody he knew thought of frying radishes. They look more like potatoes than potatoes, but taste different but very good. Best of all, two hours after a meal including them, my blood sugar is only 84, which indicates very low carb count. So good for all of you on atkins or whatever. In my mind's eye, I can also see a version like the Italians do with potatoes - lots of butter, extra-virgin olive oil, garlic and rosemary. Smack, drool.

I'm guessing they crisp up? I've tried to fry turnips, they tasted good, but not crispy like a real french fry....
