Default Just thought I'd say hi

Newbie here, just joined

I started a low carb diet yesterday, because I was finally fed up with being fat. I need to lose about 60lbs. I feel it's holding back my social/dating life and I'm not getting any younger at 27.

Over the years I've tried everything from raw food diets to master cleanse, etc, and I'd lose the weight. But it would come back every time. It was frustrating. Lately I've given up the whole "dieting" idea and have just been eating healthily....fruits, veggies, whole grains, etc. I feel better, but i've been losing at a very slow rate, about 1-2 lbs a month.

I wanted faster results, so I decided to give low carbing a try. I've done mostly carbohydrate heavy plans thus far, so this is definitely different for me. Protein heavy diets have always sounded unhealthy to me, plus I'm not that much of a meat eater. But nothing else has worked, so why not give this a try. Don't knock it till you've tried it, right?

Anyway, I'm on the New York Body Plan. It lets you eat plenty of veggies and lean proteins like eggs, poultry, fish, almonds, etc. This sounded like the healthiest of all the low carb plans so I went with this. This plan includes a pretty intense workout routine daily (1.5 hours!), but I haven't managed to get into the whole working out thing , so it's just the diet for me at this point.

Good luck to everyone else on this journey. It's difficult, but I'm approaching this with the mindset that this time it's for keeps.
