Should have been a workout day but events have derailed my intentions.
Did a few unweighted squats in front of the oven while waiting for dinner to cook. As a workout, thats the most pathetic excuse for a routine I ever heard. I'm ashamed of myself for posting it in my gym log

Determined not to let events push me into a black hole; I'm going to max my efforts in a positive direction or die in the attempt.

Elliptical 20 mins no HIIT

Bench Press 25kg x 15, 10, 10, 8, 8.
Pec Deck 3 x 8 x 25kg
Back extensions 2 x 15 x 55kg
Full sit-ups 3 x 20
Chest press 35kg x 8, 6, 6, 4
Lateral pull-down 3 x 8 x 55kg
Abdominals 3 x 10 x 45kg

Treadmill 20 mins 5% incline

I should have upped the bench weight after the first two reps seemed so easy. But I just did more reps instead.
Now my right tricep is very sore. Thats the site of an old injury from a one-armed press-up drunken show-off in my youth. Hope it heals soon.

Rower 3000m in 16 mins. Thats only 7 seconds off my PB.
Bike 5 mins

Leg curls 50kg 8, 6, 6, 4
Leg extensions 55kg 8, 50kg 8, 6, 4, 4
Addductor 3 x 10 x 50kg
Abductor 3 x 10 x 50kg

Elliptical 3 mins - too knackered for more.
Might do a few more weights later.

Been sneezing all week.

Treadmill 20 mins 5% incline
Bike 20 mins


Shoulder press 3 x 8 x 15kg
Dumbell arm curls 3 x 8 x 7kg each side
Dumbell lateral raise 3 x 8 x 4kg each side
Rope pull-downs 3 x 8 x 25kg
Full sit-ups 2 x 20

Rower 700m had to give this up because of sneezing - no free hand for tissue!

Monday or Tuesday, 10 mins elliptical, then 3 x 3 press-ups. Have not done press ups for about 20 years!!! I was shocked I could only manage 3 reps at a time. Guess I should do some more often.

This morning, I reluctantly hauled my arse out from the warm bed, spent half an hour scraping snow and ice from the car, and drove slowly and carefully over sheets of compacted snow to the gym. The car park had not been swept or salt/sanded, it was like a skating rink.

Rower 5 mins warm up, about 1000m

Bench press 25kg, 3 x 5
Pec Deck 25kg 3 x 8
Lateral pull-down 55kg 3 x 8
Weighted abdominals, 3 x 10, 45kg
Treadmill 10 mins

Rower: decided to do a sprint set instead of a slow steady row. Did 2 x 1000m at average of 2.30m/500m with a short rest between, then started another but my heart-rate got alarmingly fast, so I stopped at 300m. My blood-pressure has jumped back up this week, and I had a really bad nosebleed last night while I was dozing on the sofa in front of the teevee. Blood everywhere - tee-shirt, sofa, blanket, etc. So I was not about to do that again in the cardio area of the gym.

Elliptical 10 mins

Leg press 1 x 10 x 80kg, 1 x 8 x 90kg, 2 x 6 x 80kg
Adductor 3 x 10 x 50kg
Abductor 3 x 10 x 50kg
Leg curls 3 x 8 x 50kg
Leg extensions 3 x 8 x 50kg
Full sit-ups 3 x 20

Treadmill 10 mins, 5% incline

Its so depressing coming here and reading about the kind of heavy duty workouts I used to get through. I have been doing a few weedy weights recently, mostly to test my left arm/neck to see how it has healed. I also hop on the elliptical now and then and do 10 minutes. I really should get back in the habit of doing more and posting here.

Yesterday -
1 x 8 bench press
1 x 8 arm curls
1 x 10 squats with a couple of light dumbells
1 x 8 shoulder press
1 x 8 leg extensions
1 x 8 dumbell lateral raises
10 mins elliptical

I'm not even sure what weights I have on the bar and dumb bells, just that they are weedy!

This morning -
10 mins elliptical
