Jane - I too can't eat dairy, so we have that in common.

I use potassium citrate powder mixed in water. I've built up to an amount that is higher than what most people use. The potassium citrate pills contain tiny amounts of potassium. People are warned that taking too much potassium can be dangerous and I am sure it is for some people but I do well on a larger dose. For a long time I took 5 potassium citrate capsules a day, which was the amount that Dr Eades recommended

The no salt might be simpler. I never used it.

Jean

Hi Jane,

I supplement potassium through both pills and salt substitute. The salt substitute is a little bitter tasting to me. While I can sprinkle it liberally on beef and cover the taste of it with a quick grind of regular sea salt, I can’t do that with chicken. So if I’m having chicken (which I always salt), I’ll take 5 or 6 potassium citrate tablets with it. For me the trick is to make sure I balance my sodium intake with sufficient potassium. How I do that (pills or salt sub) doesn’t seem to matter.

I use an app called Carb Manager. Although I am new to this it seems to be working for me.
