Default Liquid Sweetener

Hi, Can anyone please tell me if it's OK to use Sugarless Liquid Sweetener. I bought a bottle at Safeway the other day and it hasn't got a carb count on it.The ingredients are Sodium Saccharin, and water and Sodium Benzoate preservative. It says it has no calories, but does anyone please know the carb count and the conversion for powdered sweetener in recipes. Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Caz,

Saccharin in any form is fine to use. Personally I can't stand the taste, so I stick with Splenda. But if the taste is okay with you, go for it.

Liquid sweeteners are almost always carb free. The container should say on the label how much of it is equivalent to the same sweetening power of sugar. Just remember that powdered sweeteners are usually "spoon for spoon" with sugar, so if a recipe says to use say, ½ cup of powdered sweetener, that is the equivalent of ½ cup of sugar. Make sense?

Cheers,

Roz

Thanks for your help. I haven't used it yet, so I'm not sure of the flavour. I'll experiment tomorrow.
