Really it just depends on what stage of Atkins you are on and what your total carb intake for the day is. In OWL you are suposed to be getting your carbs from veggies, so this would be much better and healthier then having SF chocolates or SF cookies.
Sweet potatoes are more moderate carb, but this could be why the recipe cuts them down with some lower carb turnips. The yams are very filling and full of Vitamin A however. (Note there is a carb difference between yams and sweet potatoes carb wise, good luck knowing which is which)
A lower carb way to do this could be to dice up some fresh pumpkin in place of part or all of the yams.
