I don't know what to think when it comes to sugar alcohols. I really don't think that ALL of the sa carbs can be subtracted. Mainly, I just stay away from all products with sugar alcohols, period, so I avoid the issue all together Occasionally, when I'm craving chocolate, I'll pick up a Ross bar and just say 'what the heck' and don't count it at all, follow plan the rest of the day (staying at or below 20g ECC) and the sf chocolate is just extra. I really only have one or two around TOM, and even then not every month.
