I'm lucky. My husband never comments on my weight unless I ask. I've lost 40 lbs and today I asked him if I looked thinner. He said "yes", with no embellishment, no compliments, nothing. Just like I like it. I'm losing weight for myself. I don't want any comments unless I ask for them.

He doesn't eat what I eat. I cook my own food, he makes his own food. He never comments on what I'm eating, and doesn't want what I'm eating, even though I ask if I should make enough for him.

I know it sounds a bit like we don't communicate, but we do. It is just that the only thing that matters is our health. We don't focus together on weight. I do that all on my own!

That being said, I think that comments about weight like "you are getting too skinny" are jealousy and insecurity. I'd point blank say something like "Are you feeling insecure because I'm losing weight?" and see where it goes. Better to put it all out on the table. If he is dumbfounded by your question, you were way off base, and at least it will start the conversation because clearly you are thinking it, whether he is or not.
