Default "Be good to your body" buddies (everyone welcome)

Let's be good to ourselves.. Every day, participants can make a suggestion for everyone, which will enhance their day and hopefully reduce stress. It could be anything from 5 mins of meditation to dancing to a favourite song. There's no obligation to do any of the suggestions: just pick those which would enhance your day.

My suggestions for today are:
  • Tidy / beautify the living room and have a candle burning this evening

If anyone would like to participate, please just add your own suggestion or suggestions below

Yesterday went really well. I made a honey and coconut oil mix which really helped my skin, and enjoyed a relaxing evening with candles.

My suggestions for today are:
  • Get outside for some fresh air and exercise
  • Beautify the bathroom prior to a relaxing detox/fragrant bath

If anyone would like to participate, please add your own suggestion or suggestions below

Love this thread! Ok, so can you tell me how you made your mask..for instance how much coconut oil and how much honey?

We are remodeling our kitchen and everything is a mess. So my "be good to myself treat" is to organize as much as I can. I always feel icky when everything is messed up and unorganized. I'm also working hard get rid of stuff I don't use. Less clutter and a more simple existence.

I am also taking a walk with a good friend around a lake this evening.

Hi Amber, thanks for joining me in my endeavours... For the honey and coconut mask, I didn't really measure, but I used a small teaspoon of honey and about 1/2 a teaspoon of coconut oil. I just melted them and mixed them, then once it had cooled a little, I cleansed my face, then smoothed the mask on and left it till bedtime, when I washed it off. It made enough for about 3 applications.

I love your decluttering suggestion, so I'm heading for my kitchen/utility room right now to spend a short time there. Thanks for the incentive.

Wonderful..I might try that tonight. Sounds so great!

ha, you're welcome for the inspiration. I'm having such a hard time because my mom collected beautiful china..alot of Staffordshire, chintz, Havilland, Limoges etc You get the idea. I love it but there's just too much of it and it's not really my taste. So trying to figure out how to unload it.

Anyway, thanks for starting this thread. I hope your DE cluttering goes well. I will be with you in spirit. LOL!

Yes - it's very difficult with family possessions. When my gran died, my dad couldn't clear her house, so I did it - I was fit then. I told the family that I'd keep the china, ornaments, etc. for 6 months, so if they wanted anything, they should let me know. Eventually, I donated most of it to Oxfam, as I didn't have space to store it long-term.. but my little sister has never forgiven me for donating it. Seemingly she wanted some, but hadn't let me know. :0( I'd have hung onto it if it was the type of collection you're describing, lol. I particularly adore chintz. I guess you could try getting a valuation, then putting them up for a specialist auction with a reserve price - if you have enough of it, it might be worth getting an advert into a specialist collectors magazine - either to sell by that method, or to let them know about the auction. I don't know how well stuff like that sells on Ebay, but that might be another possibility.

I got a bagful for charity from the utility room, and am almost finished the bathroom, while wearing another honey mask - it's really helped the eczema already.

Sorry about the confusion with your sister. It's too bad she didn't say something when she had the chance.

Those are good suggestions, thanks! We also have a local antique dealer who might put my items up on consignment. I want someone to enjoy them the way my mom did. I will save some pieces. I have a very special full set of dishes that were made for my parents and each piece has their name/date on the back along with the Haviland stamp. Those I will keep forever. But I have to let some of it go. And Chintz is my favorite as well. Love it.

Wow - good job on the cleaning.

I'm glad the mask is helping. I have psoriasis so a different issue but have you tried zinc? That supplement seems to help my skin (along with a large dose of vitamin d).

What a great thread. Love the idea of a honey coconut oil mask. Plus, if any gets in your mouth...

I like to use essential oils to make relaxing scents or homemade bath oils.

Hi Kirsteen

Thank you for setting this up; it sounds really good. Interesting reading what everyone has had to say.

After all the wet we have had recently, my aim for today is to breathe in some fresh air and go for a walk. As I walk I will tell myself how good it is to breathe in the fresh air and see a bit of the sun. I will also tell myself how good I feel.

Thanks everyone.. I'm glad that others are joining me.

Yesterday went well - I did a bit of weeding and relaxed in the garden, got rid of a bag of unneeded stuff from the utility room, beautified my bathroom and had another honey/coconut facial - my skin feels like a baby's now.

Sayria, your walk idea is a really good one for me. I'll aim for that this afternoon - it's a cloudy day today, but we have a local park/pond which looks lovely on days like this.

FerryGirl, I love essential oils - they are so powerful. I'm going to go with your suggestion now, and put some citrus oils into the burner - maybe lime.

My suggestions for today are:
  • Do some serious personal grooming and give my hands some special attention.
  • Spend 1/2 hour decluttering my spare room. (It's an ongoing mission, lol).

Plus those from others:
  • To breathe in some fresh air and go for a walk. As I walk I will tell myself how good it is to breathe in the fresh air and see a bit of the sun. I will also tell myself how good I feel.
  • Use essential oils to make relaxing scents or homemade bath oils.

Enjoy whichever you fancy.. and add any additional ideas for today below:

Great thread! My suggestion is to watch a funny movie that makes you laugh till you cry. Laughing is a great way to destress. Makes the body feel better. The new Madea movie looks hilarious. Witness Protection I think?
