Default On GMA, The Keto Diet

On GMA this morning!

How the keto diet can train your body to burn fat and help you lose weight.

Featured Mark Sisson's new Keto Reset book (popular primal author, it's in our library) Host stated she was not doing it for weight loss but prevention of cancer recurrence. Other than a weird visual about how it taps into stored energy when carbs removed, it was a good, positive to keto segment. Even when the doctor said it was "like Atkins"!

Encouraging that today's magic word for eating LC is keto. This is a good segment that will certainly capture people's attention, and I like the fact that they mentioned that a keto approach helps overall health and is not simply another weight loss fad. I think that understanding alone will give it staying power and will force the experts to acknowledge its effectiveness and benefits. It's causing many to reset their marketing plans to now emphasize keto, as Mark Sisson is a good example of the transition from a pure Paleo approach. Good stuff.

"Keto" doesn't have the knee-jerk fear that "Atkins" does.

Mark Sisson was on ABC News yesterday morning, talking about the keto diet and his new book The Keto Reset Diet. It resulted in a spike of Google searches and many more visitors on this website for example. Thanks, Mark!

I remain surprised by the statements in this segment about its use for cancer prevention three times and the doctor concurred, didn't walk that back and added PCOS, brain function, etc. Which is great for my interest and work in a survivor clinic group, but not accepted info by many mainstream doctors.

"Ketogenic diet" in a search engine yielded Wikipedia first and DietDoctor second. "+ cancer" DietDoctor was further down the first page of results but my favorite explanation by Dr Colin Champ near the top, so even better.

The Today Show highlights weight loss using just Low Carb and Walking. So many Keto or LC success stories now in media, after dismissing them previously. Or reporting them but twisting the method used from High Fat and IF, to low fat, high carb plant-based.
