Unhappy Starting over after serious gain

It has been months since I been here. I was low carbing for a whilewith some results. I was at 196 my last time here, I now weigh 210 lbs. At 196 I was miserable. I had just had my son and was 46 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight of 150. My son turned one on October 22. I don't recognize the person in the mirror. I have no clothes that fit anymore and my insecurities have caused my relationship to fall apart. I know this sounds like a sob story, but I am just so terribly unhappy with my weight.

For several weeks I have been starting Atkins almost everyday! I haven't made it passed 3 days. I just find myself eating more and gaining faster. Today for example...It is induction day one (again). For lunch I ate Buffalo wings with Blue cheese AND a Greek salad w/ grilled chicken on it. I ate enough for 3 people. My apetite is enormous. I just can't figure out how to really get this thing rolling. Help. Advice please. Thanks!!
Rosi

Default you can do this!!!

Rosi,

I know your story all too well, I have been there. I am on my way to sucess now but I spent years unhappy. I also know how hard it is to get on a diet and stick with it.

First, don't think of this as a diet!!!!!!!!!!! It is a way of life. It will make you lose the weight and it will make you healthier. It will do most of the work for you, you just have to commit yourself to it.

I eat buffalo wings and the food you mentioned. They are low -carb adn the great thing about atkins is you can eat a lot of food, a lot more than any diet I know.

Do induction for the 14 days!!!!!!!!!!! Stay under 20 carbs, drinks tons adn tons of water. That will help curb your appetite and also get rid of the ketones you will be making. There are sample menus in the atkins book, plus on here. Let me know if you need any other help and I will be glad to help. I am no atkins expert but I do believe in it and it is working for me.

Good Luck, Don't give up. This works!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Laurie

Rosinar,
From what I understand, it's OKAY to have a big appetite, and as ladibug has said, if you stick with the low carb stuff, your appetite will decrease. I'm sorry about your relationship - that's got to be hard with such a young child.

Just stock up on all that great meat, spices, lettuce (preferably romaine or leaf lettuce rather than iceberg, for fiber's sake), eggs, cheese...it's okay! You don't have to starve yourself.

If you feel like you're just constantly craving, perhaps it's in something you're eating. Can you write out a couple examples of what you're eating (and drinking) in a day? Be sure to include the salad dressing you're using, coffee, creamer, artificial sweeteners, etc.

Keep your chin up, hon, it'll get easier.

Rosinar, I've done exactly what you've done (worse, or more successfully, depending on the way you look at it, since I'm 100 pounds heavier than you!). I would start a diet for two days, cheat, or eat too much, and drop out, start again a week later, etc.

I second the advice you've already gotten. Stick with induction for 14 days. Eat as much of the allowed foods as you want AND drink the water. See that it will work. Just doing this for 14 days will make you feel you can be successful (and you will be successful) and calm things down.

If I might suggest what worked for me, take a day to plan. Read the book, make a list of foods you really like. Write down a few breakfasts, a few lunches, a few dinners. Then go shopping and cooking, if necessary.

Once you get the 2 weeks under your belt, that belt will be tighter, you'll feel better, and some of the other issues you're dealing with may well calm down.

Good luck -- oh, and read through some of the Journals here to see how other people are coping, and steal some of their menu ideas

Rosinar,

When I began induction I too was "ravenous"...three eggs, bacon, cream cheese...more cheese....and that was just breakfast!

Just do it....close your eyes, grit your teeth...do it on blind faith...it works! I know it sounds unbelieveable but it does indeed work.

As others have suggested read the journals, it's a great source of inspiration and a good measuring tool to see how you're meals are comparing.

You will be surprised that after two weeks, you'll feel in control of your weight, the way you eat...it's amazing but other aspects of our lives can and do fall into place as well, once we've had this type of success. I'm pulling for you!
