Default No Appetite

After three weeks on this diet I have found it surprisingly easy to stick to. I have no cravings at all, and considering I used to survive on almost all carb's that is amazing.

But I have almost no appetite, I find it difficult to have anything beyond a snack for most meals. As I result my carb intake is below 20g and my calorie intake probably isn't much either. What kind of affect will this have on my progress?

I would look it up in the book, but a friend was so impressed with my progress that I had to lend it out!

Cool

Hi Smedly.
Yes, sometimes you just have to force yourself to eat.
Dr Atkins' 1st rule of induction is to eat 3 regular size meals a day or 4 or 5 smaller meals. He also says not to skip meals or go more than 6 waking hours without eating.
I've only just started the protein power book, but they do make a big deal out of getting enough protein so I would suggest small meals often, just make sure they're protein rich.
By eating regularly, you keep your metabolism ticking at a higher rate than if you don't eat.
Good luck, mate, remember that this WOE is worth a few teething troubles.

Default This is my problem

My weight has stalled, because I just don't feel like eating.

I am trying to eat 3 meals a day, but am finding it incredibly difficult.

/makes a promise.

"I will eat 20carbs a day."

Dunno how though - guess it is time to get on speaking terms with macadamia's and pumpkin.

Love

Default Same here!

Same here, I'm hardly ever hungry...What I don't get is Atkins says "eat when hungry" "eat untill your satisfied, not untill your stuffed"....Uh, I'm not hungry, I'm satisfied....BUT I only ate like 600 calories for the entire day....Ugh I rather eat just one meal a day.

What happens?

If you are not consuming enough calories a day to meet the basic requirements your body needs, your systems starvation mode is triggered.

Every bit of fat and water will be held on to because of the famine, and lean muscle tissue will start being processed for fuel. This loss of lean muscle tissue slows your metobolism even more, making any further attempted at weight loss frustratingly slow.

So, eat even if you are not hungry and get some exercise to make sure your body doesn't break down muscle tissue.

Default Eat! Eat! Eat!

I never thought that I would see the day when I would have to force myself to eat. Usually it is the other way around. Today I am making a determined effort to eat more. Now that I am out of induction it should be a little bit easier because I am allowing myself a little more variety.

I wish I was more like my husband who never gets tired of eating meat and more meat!

You don't have to eat more food. Increase your calories with fat intake. Eat either 3 meals a day or 4-5 smaller meals and do not go over 6 hours without eating.

Check in the Hot Links! in the Newbies Questions Forum for the threads: Fat and Keeping Calories Up.
