Default am I being duped again?

I just recently found out that my doctor and everything I thought I knew about diabetes was wrong and I have taken steps to fix things. My blood sugars were out of control and my doctors were providing with an ever growing list of meds which were really only making me think things were ok while they were actually hastening the eventual collapse of my health. Through low carb and education I have lost 40#, gotten off all diabetes meds except metformin and achieved a rock solid blood glucose level with no spikes. Today I was looking over my past lab results and dont really know what to make of them. My last fasting lipid panel was on 9/26/05. Results
CHOLESTEROL 161
TRIGLYCERIDE 361
HDL 33
LDL CALCULATED 56

I know the triglycerides were really bad but what about the rest? As a result of this test I was prescribed Zocor which of course I have been taking ever since. Are the numbers that bad? Does the Zocor do anything to the triglyceride level?
I am having these tests taken again this month and if things are ok I will stop taking the Zocor. I have been on the low carb for about two months now so I hope my numbers are good now, if they were ever really bad to begin with.
Thanks for helping

You were on low-carb with those triglycerides?

You should take a look at this blog, he's got some good recommendations for lowering triglycerides (Fish oil) and heart health in general.

I went through and reread all his postings and learned a lot

Langcjl,

Get another test done. The results that you posted look very suspicious (bad measurement).

Zocor doesn't do anything to reduce triglycerides.

Thanks for the replies. I am getting a new test done this month. I have only been on the LC for two months. This test was two years ago.

hi Langcjl-
I don't understand being on Zocor with your past numbers. Your new ones may look very different. Your trigycerides should be way down. Something to lower this- LC! Also high doses of omega 3. There is a new one, Omicor (?) that is supposed to be pure and higher doses but is prescription.
Nancy has lots of good sites to visit- read- lean.
Please let us know how your tests turn out-
