Hi folks-

My doc wants to start me on a drug called Antara...its generic name is fenofibrate, and I *think* it has another non-generic name called Tricor. I've been really scared to take any statins after reading about their side-effects, and the general advice in the Eades' books, but my doc says this is not a statin. Anyone know much about this drug? Is is considered "safer" to take than the statins? Liver damage? Renal damage? Glucose raising?

Tricor is not a statin. I took it to lower my triglycerides (on low-fat) along with a statin.

When I started low-carbing, I quit both and ended up with great cholesterol levels and no side effects.

The listed side effects are similar to those of statins.
