Default Induction friendly gravy made with Glucomannan

Just tried this and it turned out great. Almost tastes like real gravy.

I cooked a pot roast in a crock pot and instead of water used beef broth.

With the "drippings" I whisked in a couple tablespoons of cream, a pinch of sweetener, and salt and pepper.

As a flour substitute I broke open Glucomannan capsules "Konjac root"

Worked great.

Yes, I use it for thickening, too. But be real careful with gluc, as it can get thick enough for a spoon to stand up in before you know it! Been there; done that.

I've done that too. It's great to have a flour substitute though. Plus it's a good source of fiber.

Did you know Glucomannan is the main ingredient in Lipozene? Where do you get yours?

I've never heard that assertion. I order it from Netrition.com. It also enhances baked goods when 1tsp.-1T. is added. Creates nicer texture and a bit more volume/rise in non-gluten baked goods. Some articles I've read about it say it helps maintain stable glucose levels as well. As pure fiber, it is EXTREMELY FILLING when you use it in foods.

I ordered mine online and bought the NOW brand (Capsules). I think it was $20 for 180 capsules.

I also use it to thicken alfredo sauce. It really has no flavor, so I just break open the capsule and use it like you would use flour.

You can buy it in just powdered form so you don't have to open the capsules.

I use the powdered, too. I order it from Netrition.com. Flatrate $4.95 shipping, so I wait until I have a bunch of items I want to order from them to save more. Check out their low-carb foods area.
