Question calorie tracking software?

I think it's time I get a calorie tracking software that can calculate in the workout calorie loss, glycemic info, LBM percentage, etc, etc. Is there such software you can buy or download for free?

My background - I have done Zone, but I never counted calories. (I felt great with Zone, and I exercise like crazy (volleyball almost every day) during that time, but I never lost any weight. I am on LC diet (Atkins) with carbs of low glycemic index (I have trouble with sugar balance, although I don't have diabetes or hypoglycemia.) and I am trying to add some light weightlifting (with the Firm) while still playing vball.

It seems like a lot of people here know what their caloric intake is each day. I guess that is important?

Which software are you using?

I would greatly appreciate any help!!!

Thank you very much in advance!

Tomo

I went on a hunt for such software a while back. There are some nice ones that you can purchase, but I was not impressed with any of the freebees. Beware: almost everything that you can download for free will install "spyware" on your computer.

I'm happy using fitday.com. If you have a slow internet connection, I guess it wouldn't be as good, since it refreshes constantly.

Sorry I can't help more.

I am currently using Fitday.com. It's ok but I found a new toy to ask for on my birthday next month. It's called a Nutricounter. Does anyone own one of these counters? If so, is it worth the $100?

I think most of us swear by fitday.com. Also, our knowledge of how many calories we eat is really a by-product of using the program, and not at all the point for most people beyond making sure that they do not eat TOO FEW.

I know my carbs are habitually in the 20-40 range, so my interest with fitday is tracking my protien to make sure I get enough to support my lifting, and then to make sure my calories don't get too low.

Cheers,

Friday

...my other favorite thing about fitday is keeping track of my vitamin/mineral intake. You'd be surprised at your deficiencies.

I bought a software package called Lifeform, created by
Fitnesoft (www.fitnesoft.com.) It cost around $50 if you want the CD and less to download it from their site. You can enter your daily food intake and it will keep track of calories, fat, protein, several vitamins/minerals. You can track weight, exercise, blood pressure, and tons of other types of information. You can ask for reports or graphs for the information you choose to track.

I like it a lot. I tried using fitday.com, but I found entering food too difficult. Lifeform has a large database of foods and it is very easy to add either basic foods or recipes.

HTH,

Karla

Than you everyone!
I downloaded the evaluation copy from fitnesoft.com and am checking it out. fitday.com looked nice too, but that is true, finding food is a little cumbersome, but I would like to evaluate that one to and see.

Thanks again!

Tomo
