Default smoke free since 12/30/05

both boyfriend and i quit; i lost my mom to smoking-related disease (copd/emphysema) last year. no way was i gonna go out like that. it wasn't hard to quit, but i know how difficult it is to stay quit as this isn't my first go at this. my most successful quit lasted about 10+ years. funny how in a time of crisis we go back to what is familiar and comforting and for me that was smoking.

since quitting i managed to put on 10 lbs, which is why i'm here more or less. i know that smoking artificially increased my metabolism, and nothing seems to be working weightloss-wise right now. i do feel better, though, all in all and i know i'm healthier for quitting. sometimes i think about going back to smoking in order to drop weight but that's just plain stupid.

Please don't go back to the smoking....you have personal experience with what the smoking can do...but I do know how it feels to give up something and crave it...mine just happens to be wine. My husband quit smoking about a year ago but he is still doing the nicotine lozenges and still says how much he misses smoking, so I know it can be hard...especially in times of crisis. Good luck to you and hang in there.
