Default Hypothyroidism for 21 years

[COLOR=Indigo][SIZE=2]
I have been like this for all this time, I was at 165 pounds back in 2008, got divorced could not eat, and lost down to 125, I have been as small as 115, with a physical exercise job, but am not working now about to get disability.
I have bi-polar, and take lithium carbonate 300 2xday and take vistaril for anti-anxiety --ie panic attacks. I found last week that hypothyroidism and those go together. I eat no fried foods, some chocolate and was on a cracker and peanut butter binge for about 2 mionths til I got scared that it was making me gain. I refuse to get up to 165 again, none of my summer clothes will fit then. I have one pair of size 7's that fit. I realize that there are people much more over weight than me, however I am not ugly and refuse to let myself get overweight. I will not starve myself to do it, I think more of my health than that! I also take Crestor 10 mg, and Tylenol about once a day. Can anyone tell me where to start and whether the oatmeal for lunch and breakfast diet is safe or not? I haven't had my thyroid tested in a while but am planning to do it soon. Help please, I am not psychologically miserable but do not like this extra 10 pounds and refurse to accept because I am hypo that I am going to go thru this for the rest of my life. I am 55. Thanks so much to anyone who can offer some advice. I take all my meds religiously. I am really happy and well adjusted and don't think the weight is related to an eating disorder and I started walking for an hour a day a week ago today.I am here to give encouragment to others not just to get help for myself.

Your diet sounds like a quick, short-term fix. If I were you, I'd be looking for something I could do longer term. How about reading one of the low carb diet books out there and giving it a go and trying to incorporate it into your everyday life?

I suggest Atkins, or Paleo. Lots of good blogs, web sites, etc.

Welcome to the board, MMDDlove!

I noticed your other posts in another thread in the "Introduce yourself" forum but didn't respond there so as not to hijack the original poster's thread.

I have not heard of the oatmeal diet, what does it consist of?
