From what I remember, you would avoid foods such as mushrooms, vinegar, and cheese. Some people may have also used oil of oregano orally.
Ok, I dug out my book. Candida usually gets out of hand when you have 1. a diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates. 2. Have taken more than 20 weeks in a lifetime of antibiotics. 3. Mercury from silver dental fillings. 4. birth control pills, prednisone and other steroids.
Foods to avoid: cheeses, vinegar, and other fermented condiments, mushrooms, yeast-containing vitamins, wine, beer, bread and baked goods.
For treatments: there is a drug called nystatin, other doctors might prescribe. Dr. Atkins has used ozone, hydrogen piroxidem or chlorine dioxide which liberate nascent oxygen (whatever that means). Garlic is also an effective oral treatment. It can kill off the yeast but it should be administered carefully, because the dead yeast can produce a "die-off" reaction and make the patient feel even worse for a few days.
His treatment of choice in my 1992/1999 editions is the oil of oregano. Build the dosage up to 15-25 drops a day in divided doses to prevent "die-off". Another choice mentioned is olive leaf extract.
There is a whole chapter on yeast in my edition of the book which I have paraphrased here from pages 154-162.
Hope this helps.
