Hi everyone,

Hi everyone,

I am a little unusual in that I do not wish to lose weight. My reason for going on to this diet again (I have successfully used it to lose weight in the past) is to improve my blood pressure, chollestoral and lower my diabetes reading. My greatest problem is severe acid reflux and I understand that some people have cured their reflux with the Atkins diet but I have had no success so far. Any suggestions greatly welcome.

Welcome Oldtimer! My sister was on Prilosec for 3 years before she finally went low carb in July. By September, she was off Prilosec. I hope you have the same great results.

Welcome

Check the Diabetes forum for new info on lowering blood sugar. Dr Fung uses intermitteant fasting in addition to a low carb diet. http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=45

Most of the MANY threads about acid reflux, gerd, heartburn and PPIs are in General Health, http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=10

here is one: http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=449051 my DH gave up ALL Wheat to cure his GERD. Had to wean him off the PPIs over time usuing natural supplements..do not just stop them if on them now.

look around, you will find many tips,
all the best,

Thank you Jey100. Much appreciated. I realized yesterday that I'm not eating enough fats. I've been cutting them down because of the acid but I'm not losing weight and therefore not using body fat.
