Question Total Gym

My husband bought me the 'Total Gym 1500' for a gift on the advice of the salesman at our local department store. (It's the one Chuck Norris sells on T.V.). Does anyone know anything about these? Are they any good? I also have a treadmill and a weight bench with free weights, and have been combining the workouts on the Total Gym with the free weights and doing wind sprints on the treadmill on alternate days.

Any opinions? Advice? I'm fairly new to any exercise other than walking -- just began the weight training about 10 weeks ago.

Thanks for your help!

Pegm

My Fiance bought me a Total Gym 1000 for Christmas, after I dropped about a million not-so-subtle hints. I really enjoy it, I find it's like everything else- it works, as long as you use it!

I really like the pully action, which I find gives more even resistance than free weights. Plus thinking up new exercises to do on it is fun (I get really bored doing the same exercises all the time). I do find tho that it's much better for upper body work than lower.

We also have free weights, a weights station with bench press, pulldown thing, and leg extension/leg curl thingamy, and lastly an elyptical running machine. So really I have no excuses for not exercising- except sheer laziness!

So far I also like mine -- but because it uses your own body weight as resistance, I was uncertain as to whether it will still work as well as I lose weight? I agree that it is much more suited to building the upper body than to the lower body, but I do need to build the upper more than the lower -- seem to have a lot of muscle in the lower, but was very weak in the upper body.
